2009 RunOff Dates Announced
The 2009 event will move back to September for the first time
since 2005. Qualifying is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22
through Thursday, Sept. 24 with races on the 25th through 27th.
The preceding week, Monday Sept. 14-17, will be optional
pre-event testing. Many hotels in the area are announcing
discounted rates, so book early!
Fleck, Douglas and Bartuska Finish in Top 16 at the June Sprints
Eighty-eight cars!!! Let me repeat
that...88 cars!!!! In the first lap when the cars came
through Turn 5 the crowd collectively held its breath and
all 88 cars made it through. The crowd then burst into
applause. It was great driving by one and all as there
were Spec Racers from as far away as Maine and Alaska, with
minimal track experience. Congratulations to

and Rick Bartuska, Car 15, 16th. Other

Blast From the Past - 1992 to be Exact
While cleaning, Beau came across some old race result sheets
from Blackhawk that we thought would be fun to share.
Two notes: at this time, the cars were Spec Racers, not
Spec Racer Fords. Also the date for the Carl Mueller Memorial
Race was June 21, 1992 and the Churchill Memorial Race was
August 2, 1992. Lots has changed since then. Oh yes, a third
note, Beau Martin
was actually racing at the time. You'll note a few other
familiar names on the results sheets:
Mike Dirienzo, Tom Van Camp, Jim
Marinangel, Bob Ablard, Lars Lindell and
Augie Pabst III. Guess we're
"dating "a few people...I'm sure they were all in their teens
when they started racing.
