These earlier season races tend to test a person's character
and the Sunday qualifying and race at BlackHawk certainly
accomplished that. The early qualifying was very wet, middle
qualifying somewhat dry and the race was very wet (not to mention
cold.) The good news, Jim Ferro,
Car 37, took the pole and raced to victory. He faced a
bit of competition in the beginning, but once he put some distance
between the competition, it was all she wrote. Bill
Douglas, Car 7, came in 2nd, Adam Gottlieb, Car 77, 3rd
and Dale Brown, Car 21, 4th
Place. For those of you concerned about Dale after his
little incident last year, being at Impound after your first race
back always
makes up for that! Other Elite Drivers finishing well,
Bill Marinangel, Car 5, 6th, Fred Sasser, Car 72, 8th, Doug Loughead, Car 34, 10th, Bob
Meintrup, Car 01, 12th; Robert Lojkovic, Car 65, 15th;
and David Riese, Car 4, 17th.
Two Elite Assisted drivers elected not to start, Keith Conroy,
Car 35 and Amy Wittkamper, Car 2...perhaps the smarter of
the drivers.
