Duel
to the End...Congrats to Douglas and Brown, finishing
4th and 5th in the Quad Regional
The Quad regional offered a real
duel between Bill Douglas, Car 7,
and Dale Brown, Car 21. Dale
had managed to get some distance ahead of Bill, but as he attempted
to make a pass for third place, debris on the track nearly
put him in the tire wall, giving Douglas a chance to catch
up. In lapped traffic, Douglas passed Brown and while they
duked it out for the last 4-5 laps, Bill ended up in 4th. It
was great racing action, though. Other Elite drivers finishing
well, Jim Ferro, Car 37 in 7th.
(Jim tried an interesting tire strategy that he won't be using
again.) Fred Sasser, Car 72 finished in 10th, Ruben
Garcia, Car 3, 12th, Jack Amstadt, a
new Elite driver who now owns Steve Anastasi's old Car
2, 18th; Bill McGovern,
Car 02, who has some interesting off track excursions
but now has a full license, 21st;
Robert Lojkovic, Car 01, 22nd, Bill Marinangel, Car
5, George Sanchez, Car 28 and Doug Loughead, Car 34,
had DNFs. Nasty crashes, but they all walked away...which
is the most important thing.
