5 Finish for Fleck, Top 10 for Marinangel
It was glorious, sunny Sunday at
Road America. A perfect day for racing...unless you were Group
9, like the SRFS...where the wait can seem interminable. When
at last the race began, it was very exciting...hard racing
all throughout the 67 car, yes 67 car field! The webmistress
noted many new cars and faces in the crowd...people travel
from all over the U.S. to participate in the Sprints--for many,
it's the first time they have been on the track. The race was
quite good and of the 5 races we watched that day, this was
one of the only groups that did not have a black flag lap,
double yellow or any other such nonsense.
Your winner, Derek Scofield, Car
63, from Florida. Congratulations to Dudley
Fleck, Car 4, 5th; and Jim Marinangel, Car 5,
8th on their top 10 finishes. Both ran into a bit of trouble
early, but fought their way back to their finishing positions.
Congratulations also to Becky Bach, Car 22, 18th and Mike
Dirizenzo, Car 82, 22nd. Also finishing well, Mike
McCann, Car 38, 28th; Bob Ablard, Car 66, 36th; David
Shapiro, Car 02, 45th, Lance
Mussler, Car 24, 48th, Tom
Doerr, Car 3, 50th; Ruben Garcia, Car 3, 51st and Mike
Canfield, Car 9, with a bit of tough luck, finishing
59th.Tom Doerr earns a
$100 for his finish! Lance started out in 64th, moving up 16
spots....we're hoping for hard charger award!!! He didn't get
it, but it was a great effort. Complete
